Oh what the heck! For the sake of posterity!

About two years ago I took some belly dancing lessons. We came up with a choreography because the gym asked us to participate in their annual show. So after two months of bi-weekly lessons, we came up with this. It is pretty simple, but we loved it ;).

I guess it is pretty easy to figure out which one I am, as the boyfriend focused a lot on me (cute, but I wish I had more of my friends, still… cute, so heh *blush*). The camera was terrible, its from a photo machine, so not that great. There are a few seconds of musical confusion at first and I spot one mistake from my side (not bad for me lol)

I just put it up on Youtube. Since this is an anonyblog, I don’t really mind showing it lol. And it will be good to look back at it, along with all my other posts.
Our teacher is the on on the far right. Only three brave students had the guts to participate, the rest chickened out haha!

High Hopes

My favourite Pink Floyd song.
Lyrics go as follows:

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the long road and on down to the causeway
Do they still live there by the cut
There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder

Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed up world

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There’s a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we’ve been so many times

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river

Forever and ever

—————————————————————————-

Reminds me of my youth, I listened to it a lot then. The emotions it brought and brings up are intense. It reminds me of those times. The lyrics (I pay more attention to them now than I did then) are scarily accurate to what I feel about my earlier years:

“The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river

Forever and ever”

“Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There’s a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we’ve been so many times.”

My eyes are weary, and still stray to the horizon. I gotta get out more, maybe this is just the winter blues. I want to dig my toes into the dirt, splash in the river, climb rocks and feel how wonderful and simple and rich it really is, away from the dull responsibilities that turn life into a repetition. Last time I did it I had such a wonderful time, and 4 days felt like a month of wonders, such was my thirst.

In all justice, Sandor Clegane (The Hound) is also one of my favourite characters

I recently mentioned who my favourite characters in A Game of Thrones were. I forgot to mention one: Sandor Clegane. In the middle of all the treason, corruption, hate, rape, filth, greed, lust and what-not, Sandor Clegane is a rock.
In the midst of his torments, his physical appearance and all the characters that supposedly can rule over him, he will do only what he thinks is right. “A hound will die for you, but never lie to you”.
I love the fact that he is the only man willing to protect Sansa, yet he is the only man that does not accept the title of “Knight”, whereas the other knights, supposed defenders of vulnerable maidens, will beat her and humiliate her at the King’s command.
This is not the only time Sandor shows his integrity, he faces his brother to defend Ser Loras from his brother, The Mountain that Rides (and just about the cruelest, most vicious and disgusting horrible character I have seen in the story).
There are also other examples of his integrity along the story, and I hope I get to see many more as I read on, or watch season 3 🙂

(Might upset more sensitive viewers) Sandor bravely enters the mass of angry townfolk (that killed several of the King’s men and the Septon) to save Sansa from a terrible fate.

… Like a boss. In a moment of weakness, when his fear of fire comes over him, he realises that in the grand scheme of things, all he has been defending holds no value, moral or monetary. Only the purity and innocence of Sansa held him to King’s Landing.
